Tiramisu

A classic Italian dessert with layers of ladyfingers, coffee, and mascarpone cream.

Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert known for its layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and rich mascarpone cream. It's a decadent and indulgent treat that is perfect for special occasions or anytime you want to satisfy your sweet tooth with a touch of elegance.

Ingredients

  • Egg yolks — 4
  • Granulated sugar — 1/2 cup
  • Mascarpone cheese — 8 ounces
  • Heavy cream — 1 cup
  • Strong brewed coffee — 1 1/2 cups, cooled
  • Ladyfingers — 24
  • Cocoa powder — 2 tablespoons
  • Dark chocolate — 1 ounce, grated (for garnish)

Directions

1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale yellow in color.
2. Add the mascarpone cheese to the bowl and beat until smooth and well combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
4. Pour the cooled brewed coffee into a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee, soaking it for a few seconds on each side, and then arrange them in a single layer in the bottom of a serving dish or individual glasses.
5. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the soaked ladyfingers, creating an even layer.
6. Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
7. Cover the dish or glasses with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together and the dessert to set.
8. Before serving, dust the top of the Tiramisu with cocoa powder and sprinkle grated dark chocolate over it for an added touch of decadence.
9. Serve chilled and enjoy the luscious layers of Tiramisu, savoring each creamy and coffee-infused bite.
