Lasagna is a classic Italian dish that consists of layers of pasta sheets, meat sauce, cheese, and tomato sauce. It's a comforting and flavorful recipe that is perfect for family gatherings or special occasions.
Ingredients
Servings
- 12 sheets Lasagna noodles
- 1 pound Ground beef
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 cups Tomato sauce
- 1 can Crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper (freshly ground)
- 2 cups Ricotta cheese
- 1 large Egg
- 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
- 2 cups Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- 0.25 cup Fresh basil (chopped)
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set them aside.
3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and continue cooking until the onion is soft and translucent.
4. Add the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes.
5. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until well blended.
6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
7. Spread a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
8. Repeat the layers of meat sauce, noodles, ricotta cheese mixture, and mozzarella cheese until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.
9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
10. Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving. This will allow the layers to set.
11. Garnish with chopped fresh basil before serving. Slice into portions and enjoy your delicious homemade lasagna!
